At HFC, we don't want service to be something extra we do just to feel good. We want to it to be at the core of who we are.

  With this in mind, here are a few ways we have scheduled to serve:

 THIS SUNDAY: Feeding the Homeless in Downtown Seattle

 We join City Team downtown to prepare and serve food to those in need.  The vans leave the HUB parking lot at 5PM.  We need help with cooking and serving and the experience is great.  The guys at City Team need to know that there is a God who loves them no matter what. Serving is a great opportunity to open doors to the truth. We will be doing it again on the 4th Sunday in October.

October  17-18:  Fall Retreat serving in Portland.

 30-Hour Famine:  February 2009

Join the international youth movement to fight hunger.  Informational meeting this Wednesday, (Sept 24th) at 8:30pm in HUB room 106B.   

 

 -Spring Break: Building houses for those in need down in Mexico

During Spring Break we will be going to Tecate, Mexico (just across the US border, a little Southeast of San Diego) to build houses for/with people who don't have them. Also possibly doing some other forms of community outreach (like working with kids at a nearby orphanage. Why are we doing this you might ask? We are called to serve, in Matthew 25 Jesus says, "I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these
brothers of mine, you did for me".  Besides, when will there be a better opportunity to go, it's cheap, and why not? Serving not only changes the lives of those who are served, but those who do the serving, it is Awesome!

We will be staying at a Ranch that is a home base for many outreach groups in Baja Mexico. The facility has dorms with bunk beds, an eating area, bathrooms, showers, and even a small pool. You can check out the place we will be staying at http://www.rancholapaloma.org/
